How energy-efficient are log homes?

Whether you heat your home with gas, wood, or electricity, you'll use approximately 50% less energy than a conventional home according to government studies of log homes over 6" in diameter. It's also easier to cool your log home in the hot summer months due to the thick, solid log walls. This will save you approximately 30% over a conventional home's cooling costs. No wonder so many people who live in a log home say they would never switch back to a conventional home!

How much will my log home cost?

We offer complete construction assistance and will help you calculate an exact turn-key price with assistance from the builder. Some general rules for pricing are: Take the package price x3 to roughly find the total cost, or multiply the square-footage by $130. For homeowners who get involved/do-it-yourselfers, take the package price x2.

How do I maintain my log home?

Exterior: All the exterior of our homes will need is UV protection. Within 6 months of completion, a stain made specially for log homes is simply applied to the exterior of your home. This is followed by a clear "top coat" every 5 years. Interior: The inside of the log walls requires no maintenance at all! In addition, if you select our tongue-and-groove pine for your ceilings, the interior of your home will be completely maintenance free. Of course, you can also choose more conventional finishes such as drywall.
